As our first Director of Retention Marketing, you will be a key member of the marketing team and have the opportunity to build an activation and retention marketing function from the ground up. This role will partner closely with both product and growth to help bring SudShare’s most important retention initiatives to life.

 

Reporting to the CEO, you will be given the opportunity to guide all of our users through a customized journey across a variety of owned communication channels. By delivering messaging that is personalized, actionable, and on-brand, you will turn users into life-long SudShare fans!

 

We are looking for someone with operations experience evaluating complex business opportunities. You have been successful in combining technology and data to create impact. You must have a base in CRM tools and strategies, revenue forecasting, promotional strategies and people management. You have a history of excelling in high-velocity environments while driving outcomes and keeping the customer experience top-of-mind.

 

What you will work on:

  • Create a plan for a company wide retention strategy and execute to hit retention goals.
  • Establish and own retention goals, budget, and KPIs.
  • Work with Analytics, Operations, Product, Engineering, Support, other Marketing and Sales personnel to create programs that retain customers with the purpose of increasing lifetime value, driving revenue and increasing engagement
  • Deploy, improve, and ensure the health of owned channels through regular reviews of KPI/ metrics and channel health checks
  • Lead the evolution of our marketing capabilities by identifying opportunities to grow through technological innovation
  • Execute lifecycle marketing journeys and one-off campaigns across all channels (email, in-app, and SMS) to drive conversions and retention on both the Supply and Demand side of our two-sided marketplace.
  • Establish organized A/B testing processes and execute to test creative design, content, targeting capabilities, and channels to constantly improve conversion and retention rates.
  • Collaborate with the product team on features that will help drive retention.
  • Work with other members of the team to identify user segments that will allow us to send the right content to everyone in our community at the right time.
  • Support the continuous upgrade of our marketing technology stack to increase automation, personalization and efficiency.
  • Co-own reporting and optimization efforts for all of our communications – from a one-off marketing email to a transactional push notification.
  • Collaborate on content strategy and drive the content creation process, working cross-functionally with other members of the marketing team and design team to move projects forward.
  • Work with departments across the company to plan and execute important communications.

 

What you need to succeed:

  • 5+ years experience developing profitable retention marketing programs and exceeding performance and revenue targets
  • Understanding of essential performance drivers and experience turning insights into successful tactics
  • Passion for customer experience and increasing the value of customers
  • Experience with a modern automation platform (braze, iterable, CIO, Klaviyo, Marketo, etc)
  • Knack for writing or collaborating on great copy
  • A solid understanding of HTML and CSS
  • A strong data analysis skill set
  • A self-starter who is excited about building new programs and can thrive without much direction

 

Bonus Points:

  • Experience working with marketplaces
  • Ability to query using SQL
  • Experience working with Iterable
  • Experience with a CDP (Ex: Segment or Rudderstack) is a huge plus.
